WE STAND WITH PALESTINE! CONDEMN THE US-BACKED ZIONIST GENOCIDE!
The Asia-Pacific Coalition for Human Rights in the Philippines (APCHRP) stands in solidarity with the people of Palestine as they continue to struggle for their national liberation. We also vehemently condemn the genocidal war targeted by the United States-backed Israel against civilians to justify their illegal occupation of Palestine since 1947. We believe that there can be no justice without peace and asserting Palestinian rights is a step towards those objectives.
Historically, Israel has conducted countless human rights violations against Palestinians. Today, using the resistance of Hamas as a pretext to its war crimes, the Israeli Defense Forces are terrorizing the people of Palestine. Various attacks against human rights have been conducted by Israel through continuous aerial bombings, indiscriminate strafing, hostaging of civilians, food and aid blockades, and denial of rights and liberties as recorded by human rights observers such as Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and the UN Human Rights Office.
International law and some United Nations General Assembly resolutions recognize the right of nations to self-determination, including armed struggle. They also recognize the “inalienable right” of Palestinians against Israeli occupation. Currently, an overwhelming 138 out of 193 UN member-states recognize Palestine as a legitimate state. However, this broad international recognition is hampered by US imperialist aggression in the region and its non-recognition of the Palestinian state in support of their ally Israel’s Zionist occupation of Palestine.
Israel’s war crimes and crimes against humanity must be prosecuted and their leaders should be held accountable. The victims of their genocidal attacks are not the armed combatants they claim to fight but the numerous civilians—children, women, and vulnerable groups—who are powerless against high-power military weapons of Israel. Furthermore, the role of the US in foiling Palestinian resistance is exposed by its constant supply of war materiel to Israel, Biden’s support to Israel’s aggression, and the US’s repeated opposition to UN Security Council resolutions to provide a humanitarian leeway to provide swift and essential aid to dying Palestinian civilians are not only acts of atrocities, worse an ethnic cleansing of Palestinian people.
Given the conditions above, we reiterate our stand with the people of Palestine in all of their forms of their struggles for their liberation. We likewise condemn the war crimes and crimes against humanity by Israel as it continues to massacre Palestinians everyday. Moreover, we condemn the US for sponsoring genocide, impeding aid and peace in Palestine, and legitimizing a terrorist attack of Israel against unarmed civilians, in the name of its foreign interests. Lastly, we also urge peace-loving organizations in the Philippines and international community to support these calls and demand the immediate protection of civilians affected by the war through various means available until Palestine is liberated.
